“Wow” factor would have a very positive impact

Project
This was a typical 3 bedroom Victorian house in North London.

The client wanted to add a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom. They were keen to create a strong light feature with bi-folding doors, a plan which manifested beautifully.

Location
Bryanstone Road, London

The North London location in Crouch End is particularly good for property values. The clients understood that investing in a loft conversion with some “Wow” factor would have a very positive impact.

Challenges
The only real challenge with this job was to gain permission from the local authority.

Other applications for full width rear dormers had been rejected historically. Being in conservation – it was always going to be a challenge to be granted permission for a full width dormer, but luck was on our side.

Key Features
A key feature in this loft conversion were the bi-folding doors in the master bedroom.

This created the exact atmosphere the clients desired, opening up the room and allowing natural light to filter in throughout the day. Bi-folding doors have become very popular not only for ground floor extensions, but are increasingly in demand for loft conversions. Upon completion, it was a great accomplishment to see that the feature worked beautifully in what has become the most impressive room in the house.

Results
This loft conversion was completed in 8 weeks.

Overall the feature element and the space and light created made a significant enhancement for a residential home, and the client was very happy with the final product.

Hear from our customer

"Abbey were recommended by a neighbour and their reputation is well deserved. The team worked quickly and efficiently and were consistent throughout the job.

They were considerate of our neighbours, which is important on a street of terraced houses like ours.

We'd recommend Abbey - our only disappointment is that they only do lofts, as a side return extension is our next job!"
