How did we create this loft conversion for our client?
As a Hackney based conversion falling under planning, we would need to build according to the borough’s guidelines. Mansards are typically pitched in the middle rather than flat roofs by design and the external appearance is aesthetically pleasing. The client’s input was clear in that the spaces were to be simple and uncluttered and practical by design. The use of space was optimal and very functional and while contemporary the conversion was very much in keeping with a Victorian terraced property of this style.
Key Features
Planning was approved for a mansard loft conversion, to build over the main part of the house.
Challenges
Within parts of the borough of Tower Hamlets loft conversions had been restricted, but a recent change in policy meant that the ‘Medway Conservation’ area, were now open to the idea and our clients wanted to take advantage of this.
Results
We created a master bedroom with a good sized ensuite shower room. Traditional sash windows kept the build in keeping with the style of the house and a wall of built in wardrobes finished the room off perfectly.
